Evgeny was born and raised in Ukraine and was a multi-sport athlete throughout his life. He did a lot of acrobatics as a child (perhaps where his grip strength comes from), and when he was older, he competed in many judo events and was adept at swimming as well. While he was never recognized for these sports at an international level, his body was primed for armwrestling.
When he was older, he moved to Dnipro, AKA Dnepropetrovsk, a large city in Ukraine. He moved there to study, and while devoting himself to academia, he joined a local gym where friends and faculty began hosting armwrestling competitions.
Evgeny Prudnik is 37 and began armwrestling in 2005. The Phantom of Kiev has been armwrestling since he was 18. He has been armwrestling for 19 years—almost two decades!
